The study of a Language Other Than English (LOTE) contributes to the overall education of students.

This is especially in the areas of communication, cross-cultural understanding, cognitive development, literacy and general knowledge.

At Salesian College we offer Italian and Japanese at year 7 whereby students study both languages.

In Year 8 they choose between the two.

In Years 9 and 10 LOTE becomes an elective and students are then able to take these languages right through to VCE where Spanish is also offered.

The LOTE Department also sponsors regular study trips to Japan and Italy.
