INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

FLUTE LESSONS

The College currently has some 250 students involved in the Instrumental Music program, from Years 7 to 12.

Tuition is provided on a large range of instruments including Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, Piano, Guitar and Bass Guitar.

Students are given one free semester of instrumental tuition in Year 7 as part of their Classroom Music curriculum.

Students can then elect
to continue on their instrument or change to another. A large number of students continue learning their instrument through to Year 12.

In recent years quite a number of students have elected VCE Solo and Group Performance as part of their Year 12 studies.

All bands perform a number of times each year for a variety of occasions, ranging from school assemblies and concerts, to performing in the wider community.

Major highlights include the Olympic Torch Relay, State Ministerial performances, the School's Annual Dinner Dance, the Melbourne School's Band Festival and the annual Music Camp for each group.

A major part of the program includes performing in an ensemble.
Salesian College has five ensembles that cater for the different levels of students' abilities.

These include Senior, Intermediate and Junior Concert Bands, and Senior and Intermediate Stage Bands.
